Caregivers and healthcare professionals are frequently frustrated by the behaviors exhibited by those diagnosed with irreversible dementia. When we recognize that “difficult” behavior is simply a way for persons with dementia to communicate and get their needs met, serving the patient becomes easier. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit.
