      Behaviors as Communication? A Dementia Patient’s Attempt to Connect

Caregivers and healthcare professionals are frequently frustrated by the behaviors exhibited by those diagnosed with irreversible dementia.  When we recognize that “difficult” behavior is simply a way for persons with dementia to communicate and get their needs met, serving the patient becomes easier. Join us for this informative program on interpreting body language, reading signals and deciphering the mysterious behavioral language of dementia.

In order to receive credit, you must: Log in on time & attend the entire presentation. Attendance log and Zoom analytics will be reviewed by the CE Director. Evaluations & Certificates will be provided in approximately 5 business days to those eligible. Partial credit is not provided.

Each person must be individually registered and logged in using individualized Zoom link.

A Dementia Patient's Attempt to Connect, Course #4307, is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Jenerations Health Education as an individual course. Individual courses, not providers, are approved at the course level. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 07/11/2022 - 07/11/2024. Social workers completing this course receive 1 General Social Work Practice continuing education credits

• ACE individual course approval meets the NJ Board of Social Work Examiners requirements for individual course approval pursuant to NJ Code 13:44G-6.4.16.

About The Presenter

Joanna Frankel, MSW, LCSW-C, Associate Speaker with Jenerations Health Education, is a graduate of Towson University with her Bachelors in both Psychology and Gerontology and of the University of Maryland, School of Social Work. She is the owner of Frankel Care Consulting, a company that supports Seniors and their families during difficult transitions, consults in several nursing homes, provides clinical supervision to aspiring LCSW-C's and education to both professionals and caregivers.
